The World Rally Championship is a car rally series that was first contested in 1973. The competition is split into two separate championships, the Drivers' World Championship and the Manufacturers' World Championship. Each championship uses the same point system.
A prominent car in the series was the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution. The car has had numerous victories including the Driver's World Championship from 1996-1999. The vehicle has also had success in the Manufacturers' World Championship, winning the title in 1998. The Lancer Evolution has currently not been participating the WRC since Mitsubishi's sabbatical from the championship at 2002.
